The Rest Practice: Honoring Your Body Without Guilt (Action Wednesday)

What if rest isn't laziness? What if rest is expansion? In this Action Wednesday episode, Nyomi walks you through practical exercises to create your rest practice, identify where you're doing too much vs. being enough, and take responsibility without judgment. This is the work of unashamed expansion. Bring your journal and get ready to honor your body. **In This Episode:** - Exercise 1: Where is your body asking you to rest? (5 questions to identify signals you've been ignoring) - Exercise 2: Doing too much vs. Being enough (balancing the DOING list with the BEING list) - Exercise 3: Taking responsibility without judgment (reframing with the formula from the 6th card) - Exercise 4: Creating your rest practice (ONE specific, timed, non-negotiable commitment) - Addressing the guilt: "But I have so much to do..." - The choice: Rest now on your terms, or rest later when your body forces you - Real examples from Nyomi's life (altar time, saying no, lying down, pushing back deadlines) - The 7-Day Rest Challenge **The 4 Exercises:** 1. **Where is your body asking you to rest?** - Physical symptoms, when they started, what you're telling yourself, what your body is actually saying 2. **Doing vs. Being** - List everything you're doing, mark what drains you, identify where you need to BE more 3. **Taking responsibility without judgment** - "I take responsibility for [action], but I do not judge myself for [being human]" 4. **Your rest practice** - ONE specific form of rest, made specific and timed, with prepared responses to blocks **Your Rest Practice Options:** - Sleep (30 min earlier) - Stillness (10 min silence) - Movement (gentle stretching/walking) - Saying No (decline one draining commitment) - Support (ask for help with one thing) - Boundaries (protect one hour for nothing) **The Formula:** "I take responsibility for [action/situation], but I do not judge myself for [being human]." **Your Challenge:** Do your rest practice every day for 7 days. Notice what shifts. Journal at the end: What did rest teach me about expansion? **Share Your Practice:** Instagram: Tag or DM @AskNyomi with "This week, my rest practice is..." **Connect with Nyomi:** - Website: AskNyomi.com - Instagram: @AskNyomi @TheSeasonofSelfLovePodcast - Tune in: Ask Nyomi Bridging the Gap - Thursdays ** #ActionWednesday #SeasonOfSelfLove #UnashamedExpansion #RestPractice #HonorYourBody #RestWithoutGuilt #TakeResponsibilityWithoutJudgment #RestIsMedicine Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-season-of-self-love--6003379/support (https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-season-of-self-love--6003379/support?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss) . MINDSET MONDAY Unashamed Expansion: When Your Body Forces You to Receive Week 4: Unashamed Expans...

What if expansion doesn't always feel like moving forward? What if sometimes it feels like your body forcing you to stop? What if being "too much" means you're DOING too much and not BEING enough? In this raw, honest Mindset Monday, Nyomi shares what happened this weekend—chronic migraines in rare form, the mental battle between her human side and her soul side, and the powerful Monday morning altar moment that changed everything. Six cards fell out. A photo from years ago appeared. And every single message spoke directly to where she is RIGHT NOW. This is about redefining expansion. About taking responsibility without judgment. About honoring your body when it asks you to rest. About recognizing that sometimes the discomfort IS the expansion.  If you've ever felt like you can't afford to rest while everything is happening—this episode is for you.  IN THIS EPISODE The Migraine Weekend: • Chronic migraines in rare form—the kind of pain that makes you question everything • Expensive medication ($1000+ even with insurance) that doesn't even work • Saturday morning: 6 hours of full gratitude, then knocked back down by unbearable pain • Lying in bed thinking: "I can't afford to rest. I'm expanding. There's too much to do." • Never once thinking: "Maybe the best medicine for me right now is to rest"The Battle: Human Side vs. Soul Side: • Human side screaming: "I can't afford to lay here. I'm getting everything I asked for." • All weekend: sleeping on and off, body cleansing itself, head so heavy • Fighting the rest, fighting the stillness, fighting the pause • Rest = falling behind / not being productive / missing opportunities • The story: "How can I afford to rest when my dreams are coming true?"Monday Morning Altar Moment: • "Let's start this week over" • Shower, then altar • Lit candles, saged the room (golden rose room), saged body • Prayed for guidance, strength, help with tongue, words to self, visions, steps • Asked: "Are there any messages for me today?" • Six cards fell out of the deckThe Six Cards That Spoke: 1. Do Your Best Because You Love It - "Do your best and take action because you love it, not because you expect a reward. When you take action without expecting a reward, you enjoy every action and you can even receive greater rewards than you imagined." 2. Sacral Chakra - Abundance - "I am worthy and I deserve an abundance of anything that I require. I watch my thoughts to ensure that I am honouring and respecting myself. I honour myself by knowing that I am worthy to receive. I am open to receive—now! I remind myself that it is a sign of strength to ask for help." 3. Stay Present - New Dream - "Keep your attention on today, and stay in the present moment. This is the beginning of a new understanding. A new dream." 4. Don't Take It Personally - "When you see other people as they are without taking it personally, you can never be hurt by what they say or do. Even if others lie to you, it is okay. They are lying to you because they are afraid you will discover that they are not perfect." 5. Throat Chakra - Truthfulness - "I am truthful and honest with myself. I aim to overcome any fears about speaking my truth, and I speak in a loving and considerate way." 6. Being Impeccable (THE KEY) - "Being impeccable, you take responsibility for your actions, but you do NOT judge or blame yourself for anything."The Photo: • A photo from years ago popped up while taking pictures of the cards • Nyomi standing tall, full red head, fully in her power • She was already living it. She was already expansive. She just didn't know it yet.The Chills & The Lesson: • Chills down her spine when she saw it all together • The universe was telling her what her human side didn't want to hear • Expansion doesn't always look like MORE. Sometimes it looks like STOP. • Sometimes expansion means your body forcing you to rest so you can receive • Sometimes being "too much" means you're DOING too much and not BEING enoughWhat Unashamed Expansion Really Means: We think expansion means: • Doing more • Being visible everywhere • Saying yes to everything • Hustling harder • Never stopping • Always pushing forwardBut what if expansion also means: • Resting more • Being selective about where you show up • Saying no to protect your energy • Honoring your limits • Pausing when your body asks you to • Receiving instead of always givingYou Already Carry Everything You Need: • That photo showed: she was already living it years ago • I don't need to do more to prove my worth • I don't need to hustle harder to deserve rest • I don't need to be productive every second to be valuable • I already have everything I need. I just need to stop long enough to receive it.The Tension: • Expansion isn't always comfortable • Sometimes expansion hurts • Sometimes it feels like pressure, like your bod...

The Joy Audit: Reclaiming Pleasure Without Guilt (Action Wednesday)

When was the last time you did something just because it brought you joy? Not because it was productive. Not because it served a purpose. Just because it felt good.  In this Action Wednesday episode, Nyomi walks you through The Joy Audit—practical exercises to identify where you're blocking joy, release guilt, practice both/and thinking, and add one joyful practice to your daily life. This is about reclaiming pleasure without justification. Bring your journal and get ready to add joy back in. In This Episode: • Exercise 1: The Joy Audit (5 questions to identify where joy is blocked) • Exercise 2: The Guilt Release (reframing each guilt into truth) • Exercise 3: The Both/And List (claiming all your dreams) • Exercise 4: Choosing Your Joyful Practice (one daily practice for pure pleasure) • Nyomi's real joyful practices (altar time, music on set, green bathroom, laughter, podcasting) • Addressing resistance: "I don't have time" and "What if people judge me?" • The 7-Day Joy ChallengeThe 5 Joy Audit Questions: 1. What brings you joy that you've been apologizing for or minimizing? 2. Where are you feeling guilty about feeling good? 3. What dreams or callings have you been told you need to choose between? 4. What joyful practices have you cut out because they seem "unproductive"? 5. Who are you worried will judge you for pursuing your joy?The Guilt Release Formula: "I release the guilt about [thing]. The truth is [reframe]." Both/And Examples: • I can have BOTH a successful career AND a fulfilling personal life • I can have BOTH creative fulfillment AND financial stability • I can have BOTH rest AND productivityYour Joyful Practice: "Every day this week, I will [specific joyful practice] at [specific time]." Examples of Joyful Practices:  Dance to one song every morning, take a 10-minute bath, read fiction for 15 minutes, light a candle and journal, cook one beautiful meal, paint or create, sing, walk outside, watch the sunset, sit in silence with coffee, stretch, listen to music The Challenge: Do your joyful practice every day for 7 days. Notice what shifts. Unashamed Joy: When Your Dreams Become Your Reality

What if you didn't have to choose between your dreams? What if you could pursue all of them—unapologetically? Fresh off a joy-filled production week, Nyomi shares the story of bringing back the original Chicago cast 10 years later, working 15-hour days fueled by gratitude, and almost getting lost in the "Hollywood set" mindset before being reminded of her other calling by Dr. Will's text. This is about having multiple dreams. Multiple callings. Multiple joys. And not apologizing for any of it. In This Episode: • Full circle moments: Original cast returning after 10+ years • The Four Agreements booklet setting the tone on set • Working 15-hour days guided by joy • Two dreams running simultaneously: production + coaching • Dr. Will's Saturday text as a loving reminder • Almost getting lost in one dream and forgetting the other • The tension: Which joy do I choose? • Why your joy doesn't need justification • The guilt we carry about feeling good • "Making my dream a reality"—Nyomi's childhood motto • Gratitude as the foundation of joy • Both/and, not either/or • 5 reflection questions on unashamed joyKey Takeaway: You don't have to choose between your dreams. It's not either/or. It's both/and. Your joy doesn't need justification. You get to have all of it—unapologetically. Week 3 Focus: Unashamed Joy - Pleasure Without Guilt Reflection Questions: 1. What brings me joy that I've been apologizing for? 2. Where am I operating from either/or instead of both/and? 3. What would my life look like if I pursued all my dreams unapologetically? 4. Removing the Qualifiers: The Work of Direct Communication (Action Wednesday)

What if you removed just ONE phrase from your vocabulary this week? What if you spoke directly, clearly, unapologetically—just once? In this Action Wednesday episode, Nyomi walks you through practical exercises to identify YOUR specific qualifiers, swap them for direct language, and commit to one conversation this week without softening your message. This isn't theory. This is practice. Bring your journal and get ready to do the work. In This Episode:** - Exercise 1: Your Qualifier Inventory (4 categories: Apology, Uncertainty, Minimizing, Hedging) - Exercise 2: The Swap - Before and After (5 common scenarios with direct alternatives) - Exercise 3: Your Real-World Scenarios (practicing with YOUR actual conversations) - Why removing qualifiers feels uncomfortable (and why to do it anyway) - The One Conversation Challenge (your bold action for the week) - Real examples from Nyomi's production week - What success actually looks like (hint: it's not perfection) ** The 4 Types of Qualifiers:** 1. **Apology Qualifiers:** "I'm sorry, but..." "Sorry to bother you..." 2. **Uncertainty Qualifiers:** "I might be wrong, but..." "This might be dumb, but..." 3. **Minimizing Qualifiers:** "Just wondering..." "It's just a thought..." 4. **Hedging Qualifiers:** "Kind of..." "Maybe..." "Perhaps..." **Before and After Examples:** - ❌ "Sorry to interrupt, but I was just wondering if maybe..." - ✅ "I have a question about..." - ❌ "This might be dumb, but what if we sort of tried..." - ✅ "I have an idea. What if we [specific idea]?" • ❌ "I'm so sorry, and I know you're busy, but maybe I can't make it?" • - ✅ "I need to cancel tonight. Can we reschedule?" **Your Bold Action:** Choose ONE conversation this week. Have it without qualifiers. That's it. **Prepare for it:** 1. Write the direct version 2. Practice it out loud 3. Take 3 deep breaths before 4. Speak directly during 5. Unashamed Voice: Speaking Without Softening Your Truth

Nyomi has been awake for 24 hours getting production ready. She's exhausted. She could skip this episode. But instead, she shows up—because using your voice even when it's hard IS the lesson.  In this raw, honest Mindset Monday, Nyomi shares how she learned to catch herself softening her voice with qualifiers like "I'm sorry, but..." and "This might be dumb, but..." She talks about creating a Four Agreements book for her production team, Joe Dispenza's quantum leap concept, and why your voice doesn't need to be softened to be valid. Week 2 is about Unashamed Voice—speaking without apologizing, without qualifying, without shrinking. This is growth. In This Episode: • Why Nyomi is recording after 24 hours awake (the lesson IS showing up) • Joe Dispenza's quantum leap: seeing your future self on stage instead of spiraling • Creating a Four Agreements book for production (leadership through voice) • The qualifiers we use to weaken our message • Why we've been conditioned to soften (especially women, especially BIPOC) • The difference between kind and soft (you can be both kind AND direct) • What happens when you stop softening your voice • Future self visualization: How does she speak? • 5 reflection questions to identify where and how you softenKey Takeaway: Your voice doesn't need to be softened to be valid. You can be kind AND direct. You can be compassionate AND clear. Stop apologizing for speaking.  Week 2 Focus: Unashamed Voice - Speaking Without Apologizing Reflection Questions: 1. Where do I soften my voice the most? 2. What am I afraid will happen if I don't soften my voice? 3. What qualifiers do I use most often? 4. Who is my future self, and how does she speak? 5. Unashamed Growth: Redefining What It Means to Bloom Week 1: Unashamed Space - Taking Up Room to Grow

"Have you seen any growth from me?" This weekend, someone Nyomi loves asked her this five-word question—and shame almost kept her from answering honestly. In this powerful season premiere for April, Nyomi shares the story of choosing truth over comfort, the moment shame tried to creep in, and why she chose to speak her truth with compassion anyway. After a month of reclaiming boundaries in March, April is about what you do with the space those boundaries created. It's about growing boldly, visibly, and unapologetically—even when your growth doesn't look like what others expect.  NEW FORMAT ALERT: April is action month. Mindset Monday introduces the weekly theme. Action Wednesday (replacing Wisdom Wednesday) gives you the tools to implement it. No guests this month—just you, Nyomi, and the work of growing unapologetically. IN THIS EPISODE The Weekend & The Altar Moment: • Nyomi wakes up at her altar feeling heavy after a weekend of both amazing and life-altering events for loved ones • Even in the hard moments, she saw the blessing, the growth, the opportunity hidden in difficulty • The heaviness wasn't about the weekend—it was about a conversation and a question she was afraid to answer honestlyThe Five-Word Question: • "Have you seen any growth from me?" • One honest question from someone she loves • The moment she realized they might be measuring two different thingsThe Problem with Defining Growth: • Some people think growth means: career advancement, buying a home, getting the promotion, checking boxes—external markers everyone can see • For others (like Nyomi): growth means becoming a better you, finding who you are, self-love journey, not being limited by expectations or fear • Growth means healing, setting boundaries, showing up when it's hard, choosing yourselfThe Shame That Tried to Creep In: • Shame whispered: "Don't say what you really think. Don't hurt their feelings. Just tell them what they want to hear." • What if her definition of their growth isn't what they're looking for? • What if she honors their internal journey but they think she's saying they haven't accomplished anything? • Shame said: "Just shrink. Just make it easy. Just say yes and move on." • The pause was long and loud—the quietest, loudest moment of the conversationThe Choice to Speak Truth with Compassion: • "First, know that this is coming from love." • "Yes, I've seen your growth. I've seen you become more aware. I've seen you set boundaries you wouldn't have set before. I've seen you ask for help when you used to suffer in silence. I've seen you show up for yourself. I've seen you healing." • Then the critical insight: "The fact that you're sitting here asking me this question means you're aware that more growth is needed or warranted on your part. And that awareness? That's growth too."5 Lessons About Growth: 1. Growth has no single definition - What looks like growth to you might not look like growth to someone else. You don't have to measure your growth by someone else's ruler. You don't have to apologize for growing in ways that don't fit the script. 2. Shame will try to silence your truth about growth - Shame will tell you that your version of growth isn't "real" growth. Shame will make you apologize for growing slowly. But shame is a liar. 3. Growth requires space - You can't grow in a space where you're constantly being drained, violated, dismissed, or shrunk. The boundaries you set in March created the space for April's growth. 4. Asking for validation is growth - If you're asking "Am I growing?" that means you're aware, paying attention, not on autopilot. Asking is part of the process. Asking is growth. 5. Unashamed growth means defining it for yourself and standing in it boldly - You don't have to shrink your definition of growth to make other people comfortable. You can grow quietly, internally, in ways only you can see. And it still counts. The Bathroom Story (Real-Life Example): • Nyomi shares a perfect example of unashamed growth: redecorating her downstairs bathroom • She took down silver wallpaper, got green paint swatches three months ago, finally committed • Started second-guessing: "I think I'm doing too much" • Her husband reminded her: "You be you. You've done so much work to be comfortable in your skin. When people walk into our home, they walk in one way, when they leave, they leave another way." • The bathroom is part of her sanctuary, part of transformation, part of truth • It's a reflection of her—and being unashamed of that reflection is growth • "It just happened to be the color green"Introducing: The Season of Growth (Unashamed) • April theme: Unashamed Growth • After reclaiming boundaries in March, now it's time to say YES—to expansion, blooming, taking up space, becoming more of who you already are • Doing this without shame, guilt, or making ourselves smallNEW FORMAT: Mindset Monday + Action Wedn...
